Georgia Harrison Discusses Difficulty of Achieving Conviction in Revenge Porn Case

Reality TV star Georgia Harrison opened up about the challenges she faced in getting her ex-boyfriend, Stephen Bear, convicted for revenge porn. She appeared on ITV’s This Morning to discuss her upcoming documentary and the relief she felt after Bear’s sentencing.

Stephen Bear Sentenced to 21 Months in Jail

Bear, another reality TV personality, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for sharing a private video of him and Harrison having sex. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offender register and given a restraining order prohibiting contact with Harrison for five years.

Harrison expressed gratitude for the conviction, acknowledging the difficulty in prosecuting such crimes: “It shouldn’t be as it is such a painful crime. Although it was really painful to go through what I did, I feel it’s making some sort of change to society and I am just relieved, I can take some joy from that.”

The Impact of the Crime on Georgia Harrison’s Well-being

Harrison described her experience as akin to going through the stages of grief, with her mental and physical health deteriorating. She also pointed out that due to the nature of the crime, she never had complete anonymity.

She recounted the effects of the ordeal on her trust and self-worth: “When really the whole time they were having sexual intercourse to put a monetary stamp on you to sell you on the internet – that really affects the way you value yourself…The situation seriously affected the way I trust people, especially in intimate situations – when I first saw the footage I felt physically sick.”

Though aware of the risk, Harrison decided to waive her anonymity because she believed that her story was already known: “At one point I was worried the postman knew about it, and everyone I was worried would find out knew, so therefore my anonymity dissipated in that moment and so it made sense to take a stand.”
